Delta grew up at the joining of two rivers under the south rim of the Grand Mesa: a trading post first (Fort Uncompahgre, 1828), then the farm and ranch town that feeds the North Fork orchards, the sweet corn fields and the cattle country toward Hotchkiss and Paonia.
